Why You Need a Self-Care Sunday

I’m not always the biggest fan of social media, but one thing I truly enjoy doing is hopping on for a few minutes every Sunday to see what people are up to for #SelfCareSunday.

If you’re not familiar with the #SelfCareSunday hashtag trend, it’s one of the more positive things you’ll see on social media. Simply put, people share what they’re doing to give themselves some much-deserved TLC.

I find it inspiring to see people taking time each week to practice self-care and to share it with others. Too often, we crowd our days with busy-ness, chores, and give so much attention to work and family, and rarely celebrate taking special time for ourselves.

If you’d like to take a few minutes this Sunday to practice self-care, here are five ways you can show yourself some love:

1. Take a walk in nature and enjoy the budding flowers and scents of spring.

2. Cozy up with a good book and let your mind get lost in the pages.

3. Get started on our new Love Yourself More workshop and start being kinder to yourself.

4. Spend a few minutes acknowledging all that you’ve accomplished so far this year and get intentional about what you’d like to do next.

5. Cook up a tasty meal that will delight your taste buds and nourish your body.

I’d love to hear what you’re up to for #SelfCareSunday. Tag me on Instagram @EveryDayHappy.Life to share with me. 🙂

Enjoy yourself today!

With love,

Emily and Team EveryDay Happy

Why it’s Time to Try Something New

Why it’s Time to Try Something New

How long has it been since you tried something new?

Whether it’s walking into a new fitness class, signing up for language lessons, trying out a new hobby or activity, or even attempting to cook a new meal, breaking from routine and trying something new makes us come alive.

Trying new things makes us step outside of our comfort zone (which isn’t always easy!). But doing so not only spices up our day, but reminds us of just how capable we are.

Why Boundaries Are a Good Thing

Why Boundaries Are a Good Thing

Most of us are good people and enjoy making others happy. We like saying “yes” to what people ask of us and overall try to be pleasing. (After all, we’re human and want to be helpful and liked!) So, it can feel natural to drop what we’re doing, lose sleep, and turn our schedules upside down to accommodate others.

The problem? Sometimes when we say “yes,” especially to the same people, again and again, we find ourselves doing things that don’t actually work for us, bending over backward, and ultimately feeling resentment, regret, and even taken advantage of.

How to Be Grateful When Life Feels Hard

When life feels especially hard, or we’re just trying to get through the day, it can be challenging to see all the good that’s happening around us. Or worse, it can feel like there isn’t anything good.

You may already know the benefits that come from practicing gratitude, but even with all the good it does, during tough times, it’s easy to fall off the gratitude wagon and to focus on everything you don’t have vs. all that you do.
