Feel like you’ve been dealt a bad hand of cards lately? You’re not alone! We’re all experiencing some pretty big blows right now — whether you can’t see or hug loved ones, have had to cancel a special event, aren’t able to travel this summer … and on and on.
Yep, to say 2020 has been a rough one is a complete and total understatement.
So how do we deal with all the punches being thrown our way? It’s time to start working on rolling with the punches.
When a letdown happens, first start by acknowledging it. Say it out loud, write it down, allow yourself to feel the frustration or sadness for as long as you need in the moment.
Next, make a decision. Choose to get outside for a walk, call a friend, meditate for 20 minutes — do something you know is a healthy way to cope and release some of those pent-up feelings.
Finally, say — and repeat — words that can help strengthen your resilience. Maybe something like, “this new direction will lead me to an even better path,” or “I know I can handle this.”
If you start to feel another punch, repeat the steps again (starting with the acknowledgment).
While we know this year isn’t what any of us had planned, it can still be one that surprises us in interesting ways — revealing just how resilient we really are.
You’re amazing and we know you can handle whatever comes your way. And there are always silver linings to be found.
XO,
Savvy Team
P.S. A glass of wine can help, too. 😉
