Happy New Year, Savvy!
How are you feeling about 2021? While each New Year typically brings a sense of optimism and anticipation, many of us aren’t feeling so hopeful about the year ahead.
And there are good reasons why: The pandemic is still raging, the vaccine rollout will take months, and the recession doesn’t seem to be lifting any time soon. Ugh.
But even though 2020 clearly wasn’t the year we all hoped it would be, that doesn’t mean 2021 has to be a wash, too. Despite everything dragging 2021 down, we still think it will be a year that surprises us — for the better.
To make the most of 2021, don’t let these next few days fly by without setting goals for the New Year. You can skip the resolutions (those rarely stick anyway!), but it’s still important to reflect on what you want out of the year ahead.
Allow yourself to have great expectations for 2021 — it’s not 2020 after all.
Sit down this weekend and make a list of five goals you’d like to see happen in 2021. Maybe you want to land a new job, find a partner, or carve out more time for volunteer work. Your goals can be big or small — there’s no wrong move.
Next, write out three action steps you can take that will make those goals a reality. If it’s a new job you’re after, consider emailing an old boss and letting her know you’re looking. Or reach out to three companies you’re interested in — whatever gets the ball rolling!
When we set goals and write out the steps we need to take to get there, we’re better able to achieve what we want in life.
So here’s hoping you too can think optimistically about 2021.
Wishing you a happy and healthy New Year!
XO,
Emily and The Savvy Team
