Four Ways to Slow Down and Enjoy More

Do you tend to rush through most of your day? Maybe you gulp down breakfast while answering emails or put on your makeup while sitting in traffic?

We certainly don’t blame you for hurrying through your to-dos. We’ve all got so much going on most days that if we don’t hustle it probably won’t get done. But sometimes when we’re busy, busy, busy, we look around at the end of the day and can barely remember what all we did — not to mention if we had any moments of happiness or contentment. Sound familiar?

If you’re tired of living in a whirlwind, join us in a “Slow Down Challenge.” Each day, we’re going to pick at least one part of our day, slow down and really savor it. No rushing, no multitasking and most importantly, no guilt about taking this extra time.

You can pick almost anything to take your time with, but here are a few ideas to get started:

Have a tech-free meal. No phones, no TV, just you, your food and maybe some soft music playing. Savor each bite and allow yourself to feel grateful for the delicious food you’re eating.

Slow down your nighttime routine. Instead of quickly washing your face and slapping on a little moisturizer, take your time and give yourself a mini-facial. Double cleanse your face, gently give yourself a face massage as you rub in your serums or moisturizer, or try a face mask (and sit back and relax while it works its magic!).

Think big picture at work. Block off some time on your calendar to really think. It could be about new ideas for projects, how you want to grow your business, or where you want your career path to lead. Write down ideas and allow yourself to think big.

Pick a chore to do leisurely. Choose something you don’t mind too much, maybe folding laundry or grocery shopping, and take your time with it. Put on a fun TV show and fold at a slower pace, or cruise up and down the aisles of the store to find new ingredients. It’ll still get done, and odds are you’ll enjoy it a lot more than when you’re rushing.

It might be hard to get out of that go, go, go mode, but it’ll be so worth it if you do. Chances are you’ll find your heart rate slowing, your breathing calming and your stress melting away. You might even find that slowing down gives you more focus and energy to get things done — talk about a win-win. 😉

Here’s to a nice and slow weekend!

How to Keep Your Confidence Cup Brimming

Let’s kick-off Friday with one of our favorite mantras … “I am wonderful in all that I do.”

It’s an important thing to remind yourself of, and you should try saying it more often because no matter how much we accomplish in any day (or decade!), it’s easy to forget how amazing we are and instead, question our capabilities.

Some of us even battle with feeling like a fraud, or like luck has just been on our side and we don’t really deserve what we’ve achieved.

When the pandemic hit and people stayed home, we all saw pollution in city skies lighten, the canals in Venice became clear again and ocean reefs flourished. Without a doubt – humans impact Mother Earth!

As many of us are cautiously getting out of our homes much more so than a year ago – why not use this upcoming Earth Day to reflect on all that Mother Earth has given you and decide what you will do moving forward to be kinder to our planet?

Does Your Life Reflect Your Priorities?

We have a hunch that you have some big dreams (and little ones, too). But do you spend your free time working to make those dreams and goals actually happen?

Yeah, sometimes we don’t, either.

Often what we value and hope for most in life isn’t even at the top of our priority list. In fact, it may not even make the cut!

Confession time: Over the past year or so, our team has let certain self-care tasks fall by the wayside. Things like annual dermatologist appointments and physicals, teeth cleanings, and even fun stuff like pedicures. Can you relate?

It’s not surprising we pushed them to the backburner (hello, pandemic!), but now that things are starting to return to a more normal state, we’re realizing it’s time to play catch up.
