Ferris Bueller was Right …

“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it.” — Ferris Bueller

We don’t know about you, but this time of year many of us have fallen into a routine (or, if we’re calling a spade a spade … a rut!). The excitement of an official New Year has worn off and we’re wondering how we’re already three months in.

Ferris Bueller was right, life does move fast and we do have to stop the day-to-day once in awhile and break from our routine.

Doing something out-of-the box is healthy for your mind, body and spirit. It’s often when you have your best ideas and feel your most alive.

Not to mention, it keeps the weeks and months from morphing into one never-ending loop like the movie Groundhog Day.

Now, we’re not saying you have to hop on a plane bound for another country (but hey, if you’re game and can swing it, go for it!), or crash a parade Ferris Bueller style.

Simply take a day and play hooky to do something totally out of the norm, something that makes your heart pitter patter and gives you a rush.

Go skydiving. Take in a movie at noon. Pack a picnic for the park or beach. Take an adventurous hike in nature. Enjoy bellinis with the girls over lunch.

Call it your “Ferris Bueller day” and make sure you do things that stand out and totally break with routine.

Need some ideas?

1. Do you feel like you … need more energy? Consider attending a weekend wellness retreat or event (like Wanderlust, Big Sky Yoga or Outessa) filled with exercise, bonding and nutritious food that can help give you a reboot.

2. Do you feel like you … want to learn something new? Take a cooking class or sign up for a lecture night at your local bookshop to unlock a new skill or put your mind to work.

3. Do you feel like you … need a little me-time? Step away from it all, and do something that feels indulgent — wine tasting or a spa day perhaps?

You only get one life, Savvy. You can choose to sail along with your routine, or spice things up every now and then to gain a new perspective and enjoy the goodness life has to offer.

We vote for the latter. 😉

Have a happy weekend, hopefully Ferris Bueller style!

Make Time for Your Dreams

Make Time for Your Dreams

What’s one thing you could do that would make this year stand out from the rest and make you feel like you took a big leap in your life?

These days, many of us are so pressed for time that we give ourselves few moments to do what actually excites us. But even if your day feels impossibly stuffed, you can make time for what really matters.

Sounds nice, but how, you may be wondering? I’m so happy you asked!

You Are Enough, Right Now

You Are Enough, Right Now

Some days you may feel like you’re not good enough, or doing enough. You may wish you could snap your fingers and turn into a version of yourself you think you should be with a perfect job, spotless house, and exciting hobbies (or whatever your definition of an ideal life may be).

But here’s something you need to know … You are wonderful, just as you are. You are enough, right now.

7 Ways To Add More Happiness To Your Day

7 Ways To Add More Happiness To Your Day

Imagine rolling out of bed with a smile on your face, laughing throughout your day, and going to bed feeling calm and content?

While not every day will be sunshine and rainbows, there are so many things you can do to add more joy to each day.

Here are seven of my favorite ways:

A Less Stress Summer

A Less Stress Summer

Summer is synonymous with relaxation, but sometimes we find ourselves stressed out and not living our best, “feet in the sand, good book in hand,” season.

Worries happen to all of us. But, one of the easiest ways to feel more carefree is to take a moment to declutter your brain. Because here’s the deal: Our brain can only handle so many thoughts at once. Anything extra bouncing around distracts you from enjoying otherwise happy moments.

Here’s how:
