Today, the world is celebrating one of our favorite things … books! That’s right, it’s officially World Book Day, and what better way to celebrate than by picking up a good book and spending some “Me Time” getting lost in inspiring, thrilling or comforting pages?
Looking for a new book to love? Here are a few of our favorites:
If you’re in the mood for non-fiction that will inspire you to improve your life …
Anyone struggling to get through the original Course in Miracles has got to pick up this version. It breaks things down into a 365-lesson workbook so you can make small changes day by day!
This powerful book will help you realize the self-limiting beliefs that can rob your life of joy — and help you live a life with more happiness and freedom.
Get inside the mind of this incredible actor and learn the amazing life lessons he’s figured out in his 50 years on Earth. This is a quick, inspiring, and empowering must-read!
We’ve recommended this book before, and for good reason: It’s helped millions of people use positive thinking to improve their lives!
Not all of us were born with a Type-A mindset and this book’s perfect for anyone who wants to reach big goals but doesn’t want to work 80 hours a week. Feel relaxed and inspired as Allen explains how his laziness has actually been a key to his success!
If you’re in the mood for a novel that’ll make you forget everything else going on in the world …
If you loved Big Little Lies, then you’ve got to read Moriarty’s new book, about a wife who finds a letter her husband only meant for her to read when he died — but he’s still very much alive.
This fictional “rockumentary” looks at the history of an interracial rock duo in the ‘70s. It sucks you in right from the beginning and makes you wish you could’ve been in the crowd (until you remind yourself that the duo isn’t real). 😉
This collection of short stories and a novella follows a lovely and likeable cast of characters (many of whom also appear in other books by Gilchrist if you can’t get enough of them). There’s plenty of heart and humor, and even a story told from the point of view of a dog (sounds odd, but it’s delightful).
While the title may not sound very relaxing, you’ll love kicking back and diving into this story about a group of people who get held hostage at an open house. Each person has a story you’ll want to discover, and by the end you won’t want to say goodbye to them.
It’s a book about trees, which might sound weird, but trust us. This sprawling tale takes a little time to get into, but once you do … you won’t be able to tear yourself away from the powerful message.
With this retelling of the goddess Circe’s story (you might remember her from The Odyssey), you’ll feel inspired by her transformation from lonely outcast to powerful protector.
There’s nothing better than a great book and we hope you allow yourself time this weekend to pour a cup of tea or a glass of wine, get comfy and enjoy a good read.
Happy reading!
XO,
Emily and the Savvy Team
