With all the red hearts and pink roses in the air, it’s easy to believe today’s all about cupid and romance. But we like to think of Valentine’s Day as a day to show all of the people you care about just how much you love and appreciate them.
Sure, it can be your partner, but also, it can be your amazing friends, a loving family, kind neighbors, cutie-pie pets and anyone else you care about and are grateful for.
Today’s the day to celebrate your relationships — romantic and otherwise!
Whether you’re feeling the love this Valentine’s Day or it’s got you feeling down, one way to take it from “eh” to wonderful is to show some love to those you love. When you do nice things for others, they feel great (obviously), and you will too.
So today, spread love and …
Go old-school and hand out Valentine’s Day cards like you did in elementary school. (And while you’re at it, throw in some candy hearts!)
Give flowers to someone you know who could use some extra love today or send a bouquet to a nursing home to cheer up the residents.
Put a note in your kid’s lunch, reminding them that you love ‘em. Or give your fur-babies an extra treat!
Gather your friends for a night of rom-coms, brownies, and wine.
Drop off chocolates at your neighbors’ places, with a note thanking them for being great.
Surprise your co-workers by bringing in donuts and coffee to start the day on a sweet note.
Send your partner on a Valentine’s Day scavenger hunt. Leave clues around the house and have a fun surprise waiting at the end.
If you don’t have any plans, take some ‘Me Time’ and give yourself a super-cozy night in. Fuzzy blanket, a bowl of popcorn, a glass of wine and your favorite movie spells serious L-O-V-E.
Did a good friend go through a breakup recently? Check in with them and make sure they’re doing OK (today can be especially tough if they’re surrounded by happy couples).
Make a donation or volunteer some time for a cause you believe in. Show the world some love. 🙂
Gift yourself with a Valentine’s Day treat like that book you’ve been hearing about, or go big with a trip to the spa. You deserve to be pampered, and you don’t need anyone else to make it happen.
Wishing you a love (and chocolate) filled day!!
Quote du jour
“All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt.” – Charles M. Schulz
Did you know 3 out of 10 adults opt to skip any Valentine’s Day celebrations all together? We’re not fans of skipping an excuse to indulge in champagne and chocolate, but if you’re not feeling the day at least you’re not alone!
