3 Ways to Create a Perfect Staycation

Did you have travel plans this summer? For most of us, those plans have been put on hold (or drastically altered), which is no doubt disappointing.

The good news is there’s still a way to get that well-rested, energized and reinvigorated vacation feeling without traveling. The answer? A staycation.

If you’re not familiar with the term, a staycation is basically a vacation where you stay at home. But it does take a little extra effort to go from a normal day off or weekend sans work to a true staycation.

Want to give staycationing a try? Here are 3 ways to create a truly fabulous holiday at home!

  1. Do a little prep so you can totally relax.

The toughest part about a staycation is capturing that feeling of getting away from your normal responsibilities when you’ve got piles of laundry on your bedroom floor and a ton of work emails rolling in.

So in anticipation of your staycation, get ahead of any chores and to-dos (just like you would before you jetted off somewhere). You want your staycation to be all about relaxing — not cleaning, decluttering or dealing with household chores.

  1. Act like a tourist in your home town or city.

Think about what you normally like to do when you travel and try to adapt those things to your staycation. If you love trying new restaurants, order takeout from someplace new, or look into a virtual wine tasting or online foodie events. If you love history or museums, take a virtual (or socially distanced) tour or watch an inspiring documentary.

  1. Unplug.

Just like you would (or at least, you should!) do on a normal vacation, turn off your phone and computer as much as possible so you can enjoy the moment undistracted. The occasional Instagram post to show how relaxed you are is OK – just try not to fall down the rabbit hole! 😉

When you’re not out-and-about being a tourist in your own area, make the most out of your downtime and read books, flip through magazines, watch movies during the day, listen to inspiring and fun podcasts and do whatever it takes to get and stay RELAXED.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend and fantastic staycation. You deserve it!

XO

Make Time for Your Dreams

Make Time for Your Dreams

What’s one thing you could do that would make this year stand out from the rest and make you feel like you took a big leap in your life?

These days, many of us are so pressed for time that we give ourselves few moments to do what actually excites us. But even if your day feels impossibly stuffed, you can make time for what really matters.

Sounds nice, but how, you may be wondering? I’m so happy you asked!

You Are Enough, Right Now

You Are Enough, Right Now

Some days you may feel like you’re not good enough, or doing enough. You may wish you could snap your fingers and turn into a version of yourself you think you should be with a perfect job, spotless house, and exciting hobbies (or whatever your definition of an ideal life may be).

But here’s something you need to know … You are wonderful, just as you are. You are enough, right now.

A Less Stress Summer

A Less Stress Summer

Summer is synonymous with relaxation, but sometimes we find ourselves stressed out and not living our best, “feet in the sand, good book in hand,” season.

Worries happen to all of us. But, one of the easiest ways to feel more carefree is to take a moment to declutter your brain. Because here’s the deal: Our brain can only handle so many thoughts at once. Anything extra bouncing around distracts you from enjoying otherwise happy moments.

Here’s how:
